🚨 Three Generations, One Knife: A Mother's Deadly Betrayal
Welcome to The True Crime Pod. A content warning: today's episode contains descriptions of family violence and attempted murder.
What drives someone to turn against their own flesh and blood? In a quiet Washington state home, a grandmother, mother, and child lived together under one roof. But on an ordinary Monday afternoon in April two thousand and twenty-five, that home would become a scene of unimaginable horror.
The day began like any other in their multi-generational household. No arguments. No tension. No warning signs of the violence about to unfold. But sometimes, the most devastating betrayals come without warning.
I'm your host, and this is the story of a family torn apart by an inexplicable act of violence that left two women fighting for their lives and a community searching for answers.
In the early afternoon of Monday, April twenty-first, a young mother was in her bedroom with her child when her own mother, forty-three-year-old Teri Suiter, entered the room without warning. What happened next would change their lives forever. Without provocation, Suiter pulled out a knife and stabbed her daughter. When her daughter tried to protect her own child, Suiter stabbed her again.
But the horror wasn't over. After fighting off her mother and getting her out of the room, the daughter heard desperate cries for help. It was her grandmother – Teri Suiter's mother – calling out in distress. Racing to help, she witnessed something chilling. Suiter, standing over her own mother, uttered the words that would haunt this investigation: 'I hope you die.'
The violence escalated as Suiter stabbed her mother and pushed her down the stairs, before stabbing her again. In a desperate attempt to save her grandmother, the daughter grabbed a baby gate to fend off the attacks. She managed to get her mother away and called emergency services, warning them that Suiter was still armed.
When law enforcement arrived, they had to use a stun gun to disarm Suiter. The aftermath revealed the brutal extent of the attack: the daughter suffered stab wounds to her back and upper left chest, while her grandmother had been stabbed on both sides of her chest and remained in critical condition.
But perhaps the most chilling revelation came from the grandmother herself. She told investigators that during the attack, Suiter said she was getting 'even with you for ruining my life.' A statement read in court revealed this wasn't the first sign of violent behavior from Suiter. 'This is not a sane woman,' the statement declared. 'She has always told me that she wants me dead.'
Teri Suiter now faces two counts of first-degree assault and is being held on a five hundred thousand dollar bond. She's due back in court on May sixth, two thousand and twenty-five.
This case raises disturbing questions about family violence and mental health. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE. Help is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
